What is quality education?

سائنس دانوں کے بقول انہوں نے پہلی بار یہ ثابت کیا ہے کہ خلا میں بڑے بڑے شمسی فارم بنائے جا سکتے ہیں، جس کا مطلب ہے کہ ممکنہ طور پر صاف توانائی کی لامحدود فراہمی ممکن ہے۔

یونیورسٹی آف سرے اور یونیورسٹی آف سوانسی کی ایک ٹیم نے مدار میں موجود ایک سیٹلائٹ کا چھ سال تک مشاہدہ کیا تاکہ یہ دیکھا جا سکے کہ پینل، شمسی تابکاری اور خلا کے سخت حالات کو برداشت کرتے ہوئے کس طرح بجلی پیدا کرتے ہیں۔

اس سیٹلائٹ کو سرے سپیس سینٹر نے الجزائر کی خلائی ایجنسی کے زیر تربیت انجینیئرز کی ایک ٹیم کے ساتھ مل کر ڈیزائن کیا تھا۔

یہ سیل پتلی فلم کے کیڈمیئم ٹیلورائیڈ سے بنائے گئے تھے، جو انتہائی پتلے شیشے پر رکھے گئے سیمی کنڈکٹر مواد کے طور پر کام کرتا ہے۔

نئی شمسی ٹیکنالوجی کی مدد سے، ہلکے پھلکے پینل بنائے جا سکتے ہیں جو زیادہ بجلی پیدا کرتے اور نسبتاً کم لاگت والے ہوتے ہیں۔

’ان تفصیلی اعداد و شمار سے پتہ چلتا ہے کہ پینلز نے تابکاری کا مقابلہ کیا اور خلا کے سخت تھرمل اور ویکیوم حالات میں ان کی پتلی فلم کی ساخت خراب نہیں ہوئی۔‘

محققین کا کہنا تھا کہ مزید بہتری کی ضرورت ہے لیکن ’اس پرواز نے خلا میں استعمال کے لیے ٹیکنالوجی کی بنیادی مضبوطی کو ثابت کیا ہے۔‘

امریکی محکمہ توانائی کا کہنا ہے کہ سورج سے ہر گھنٹے جتنی توانائی زمین تک پہنچتی ہے اتنی انسان ایک سال میں استعمال کرتے ہیں اور تقریباً ایک تہائی خلا میں واپس منعکس ہوجاتی ہے۔

چونکہ خلا میں کوئی بادل یا رات نہیں لہذا سیٹلائٹ پر مبنی شمسی پینل زمین پر قابل تجدید بنیادی ڈھانچے کے مقابلے میں توانائی حاصل اور منتقل کرنے میں کہیں زیادہ مؤثر ثابت ہوسکتے ہیں۔
